Important Warnings

Before using your appliance read this instructions manual carefully and

keep it in a safe place as you may need to consult it in the future.

Before turning on your appliance, and to ensure a safe and correct

This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by

people with reduced physical, sensorial or mental capabilities and/or

lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given instructions

on using the appliance safely and if they understand the hazards

involved. Children may not play with the appliance. Cleaning and

maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.

1.1. Power Supply

Make sure the main voltage is compatible with the appliance’s. If this is

not the case please consult the Customer Support Service.

1.2. Power Cord and Other Cables

Do not tangle the cord or pull it to disconnect the appliance. Also, keep

the cord away from warm surfaces.

Never use the appliance if it has a damaged cable or socket.

Take it to the Technical Support Service for replacement.

1.3. Humidity and Water

Do not use your appliance in humid places. Do not allow the appliance

to become wet under any circumstances as this may be dangerous.

To avoid re hazard or electric shock do not expose your appliance

to humidity or water. Furthermore, do not place your appliance under

water (e.g. for cleaning).

1.4. Cleaning

Before cleaning, be sure to switch o the appliance and remove the

plug from the main power supply. Always allow the unit to cool down

before cleaning.

To clean the exterior of the product use a dry soft cloth only.

CAUTION - Connect only to an earthed wall socket. Do not allow

the power cord to hang from the end of the table or workbench

where the appliance is located.

Always follow these basic safety precautions when using this or

any other electrical appliance:

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

• To avoid overloading the circuit when using this appliance, do not

operate another high-power appliance in the same electrical circuit.

• A short power cord is supplied with this appliance. The use of an

extension cord with this appliance is not recommended, but if this is

absolutely necessary:

- The marked electrical voltage of the cable must be at least as

high as that of this appliance.

- Insert the extension cord so that it does not hang where

someone might trip over it or where it may accidentally be

pulled.

2.2. Using the Product

CAUTION: Do not use this appliance for cooking or defrosting frozen

food. All food must be completely defrosted before cooking with this

appliance.

NOTE: At rst use this appliance may produce some smoke. This is

normal and will disappear with later use.

1. Before using this appliance for the rst time, wipe it thoroughly with

a dry cotton cloth: wipe the heating plates, drip trays and cleaning

spatula by hand or in the dishwasher.

2. Dry the heating plates thoroughly before putting them back on the

appliance.

3. Make sure to replace the drip tray.

4. Open the unit by pulling the handle upwards.

5. You can grease the plates with butter, margarine or cooking fat.

Since the appliance has a non-stick surface, the use of butter or oil is

optional.

6. Close the plates and start the unit by connecting it to a standard

electrical outlet. Make sure the power indicator shows red.

WARNING: The appliance’s heating plates and metal surfaces

become extremely hot during use. To avoid the risk of burns, wear

heat-resistant gloves and touch only the black part of the handle.

7. After the unit has been preheated for approximately 6 to 8 minutes,

the power indicator will turn o, indicating the unit is ready for use.

8. Use the handle to lift the top plate. Using heat-resistant plastic or

wood utensils, place food on the lower plate.

CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils on this appliance, as these may

scratch and damage the non-stick coating.

9. Use the handle to lower and rest the upper plate on the food.

NOTES:

• Cooking time for dierent foods depends on their type and

thickness.

• Food should be cooked thoroughly before being consumed.

10. When the food is cooked as desired, lift the handle to open the

plates, and remove the food using the utensils. If you wish to

continue cooking at this time, close the plates to conserve heat.

11. Repeat steps 7 through 9 until cooking is complete, applying

cooking oil as needed.

12. Turn the machine o by disconnecting the power cord from the

electrical outlet.

13. When the unit has completely cooled, press the release buttons,

then lift the heating plates and pull them back, you can now clean

and dry them.

2.3. Maintenance

CLEANING

• Before cleaning, turn o the power and wait for the unit to cool.

• Clean the outside surface only with a slightly damp cloth, ensuring

that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling grooves.

• To clean the plates, you can leave them in the machine or remove

them (remove them by pressing button 2 next to the handle). If you

leave the plates on the appliance, wipe them with a damp cloth or

towel. If you remove the plates from the appliance, you can wash

them under running water. After which they should be dried.

3. POST-SALE SERVICE

BECKEN has designed this appliance in order to guarantee maximum

reliability. However, if a problem occurs do not attempt to open the

appliance - there is a risk of electrical shock. If you are not able to solve

the problem, please contact the Costumer Support Service of any

Worten, Modelo or Continente store in order to be assisted. Worten

Equipamentos para o Lar provides a 2-year warranty for manufacturing

defects from the date of purchase of the appliance.

WARNING: Any attempt to repair the appliance without contacting the

manufacturer or seller will void the warranty.

All users must be familiar with these instructions. Knowing what could

4. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

In order to protect the environment we strive to

reduce the volume of packaging used, limiting

it to three easily sorted materials: cardboard,

paper and plastic. The appliance is manufactured

using recyclable materials after disassembled

by a specialized company. Please comply with

local regulations concerning the recycling of all

materials.

• Do not wipe the inside or outside of the appliance with any abrasive

pad or steel wool, as this will damage the nish.

• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquid.

1.1. Alimentación

Compruebe que la tensión de la red eléctrica es compatible con la

indicada en el aparato. En caso de que no sea compatible, consulte

al Servicio de Atención al Cliente.

1.2. Cable de alimentación y otros cables

No enrolle el cable de alimentación ni tire de él para desenchufar el

aparato. Asimismo, manténgalo alejado de supercies calientes.

Nunca utilice este aparato si el cable o el enchufe están dañados.

En su lugar, llévelo a un servicio técnico autorizado para que proceda

1.3. Humedad y agua
